Hotels We Love: Hotel Plaza Athénée, Paris

You know one of those “pinch me” moments when you’ve seen a place on Instagram or in the movies so many times and then you finally see it for your self and you can’t believe your eyes? Well this is how I felt the moment I walked onto the most romantic balcony in the world located inside the Hotel Plaza Athénée, Paris. I had the opportunity to stay at both of the Parisian Dorchester Collection properties and although Le Meurice and Plaza Athénée, Paris offer two very different experiences, the staff made me feel right at home and both places offered unforgettable memories.

Whehter you’re into window shopping or serious shopping, the Plaza Athénée, Paris is located in the heart of Haute Couture Paris on the ritzy Avenue Montaigne with stores like Gucci, Armani and Christian Dior leading up to the popular Champs-Élysées avenue.

Rooms
The hotel caters to many styles by offering classic rooms in the French Regency style or the more modern Art Deco design. Nonetheless, the Plaza Athénée is known for being one of the most stylish hotels in the world so you can’t go wrong with either. Whether you stay in a suite or a deluxe/superior guestroom, you’re bound to have a ton of space and either a view of Avenue Montaigne or of the hotel’s stunning courtyard. iPads are also in each room making the 24/7 room service seamless.

La Terrasse Montaigne
Since our visit fell during the month of October, the courtyard terrace was closed and replaced by a beautiful art installation but we ended up having lunch on the terrace that lines Avenue Montaigne and it did not disappoint. Great for people watching and a light lunch, we ordered the sashimi which was super fresh and the club sandwiches.

Alain Ducasse
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I caught a glimpse of the hotel’s Alain Ducasse restaurant, newly redesigned by Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku. It’s truly something out of a dream.

Hotels We Love: Le Meurice Paris

It’s not everyday that you walk into a hotel and you feel like you’ve just walked into a fairy tale but the iconic and historic Le Meurice Paris surely has that effect on its guests. As the first Parisian Palace, Le Meurice is truly one of the world’s most beautiful hotels. You know they’re doing something right if Salvador Dali and Alain Ducasse were once regulars here. I had the opportunity to stay at the two Dorchester Collection sister hotels in Paris, Le Meurice and Hôtel Plaze Athénée and both offered two very different but equally beautiful experiences.

With the Tuileries Garden and views of the Eiffel Tower as your front yard, the Louvre to your left and Place Vendome to your right, there is no better location to stay in Paris for those who like to stay centrally located.

The public spaces are glamorous and are every corner is a work of art with a balance of classic and modern touches thanks to the redesign by Philippe Starck.

Junior Suite
Seeing my room for the first time was when that surreal feeling set in. The gorgeous Junior Suite had princess spelled all over it! With pink and gold touches, an expansive living room, a ton of closet space and a floor to ceiling marble bathroom.

Le Meurice Alain Ducasse
Magnificent is the perfect word to describe the setting at the Le Meurice Alain Ducasse restaurant. Modern touches such as Eero Saarinen Tulip chairs and funky mirrors add flair to the classic space. I only got to experience brunch here (which was absolutely delicious paired with flawless service) but I can’t imagine how memorable a dinner experience would be here.

Le Dali
With inspiration by Dali himself and touches by Philippe Starck as well as a cameo by his daughter, Ara Starck, this dining room is sure to make your jaw drop.

Bar 228
Dimmed lights, cozy interior and high ceilings, this classic bar is the perfect place for evening drinks and/or a night cap.

Hotels We Love: Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, Italy

Childhood dreams achieved – I spent the weekend in royally beautiful Milano with two of my girlfriends and felt like princesses during our stay at the beautiful Hotel Principe di Savoia. Located in the heart of the city near the city’s main station, Stazione Centrale, this gorgeous hotel really offers a royal experience with modern, intentional touches… and a warm entrance and welcoming staff are sure to make you feel at home the moment you arrive.

All 257 rooms and 44 suites are equipped with the latest technology such as Wi-Fi, television and strategically placed outlets… perfect for modern entrepreneurial gals like us! I absolutely adored their bathrooms & high quality toiletries. I love when a hotel pays attention to little details like this. They really make a difference! We stayed in the Premium Room and it was perfect for the bunch of us, but the standard rooms are equally beautiful, quiet, and remarkably large.

The exclusive signature suites are mini museums to say the least. We had the pleasure of touring some of the rooms and we were blown away by the art pieces, design and uniquely curated furniture. But it wasn’t until we entered the hotel’s world famous Presidential suite located on the 10th floor that our jaws completely dropped. The room is popular with international celebrities and royalty. It measures 4,413 square feet with three bedrooms, a living room, muraled walls, a hallway, and the best part: a private swimming-pool emulating the Roman thermal baths of past. A stunning terrace wraps around the suite, offering views of the skyline of Milan.

Dining at The Hotel Principe di Savoia offers a five star Acanto Restaurant as well as the elegant Il Salotto lobby lounge offering everything from breakfast, lunch or dinner of Italian classics as well as international dishes. We had lunch at Il Salotto lobby and since it was a rainy day in Milano, we ended up spending the entire afternoon there getting work done and enjoying the comfortable atmosphere. The staff was so kind, always checking to see if we needed anything and incredibly welcoming as we camped out there to seek shelter from the rainstorm.

With the perfect blend of luxury and coziness. The Hotel Principe di Savoia is a gem and the perfect place to stay in the city of Milano.
