An Instagrammer’s Guide To London’s Best Brunch Spots

5 Of London’s Most Instagrammable Brunch Spots

If there’s one meal us Londoners love, it’s brunch. Give us eggs, give us avocado, fry up some bacon, and we’re a happy lot. Luckily, the city does brunch pretty darn well. And for those of us who can’t eat until we’ve snapped our food from a dozen different angles, there’s plenty of options. From dramatic floral displays to food that looks like art, I’ve rounded up some of the city’s best spots to enjoy the perfect poached eggs and get that Instagram snap. Here are five of London’s most Instagrammable brunch spots!

Elan Cafe

Chances are you’ve already seen a photo of blogger favourite Elan Cafe on Instagram, if not several. With 6 locations ranging from Kensington and Knightsbridge to a spot in Selfridges, Elan’s USP is decadent floral backdrops and floor to ceiling pink decor, providing photo ops in every corner. The brunch spread is just as picturesque, with the usual egg and avo options as well as colourful striped croissants and pastel drinks. Head to their Brompton Road location for the classic flower wall, or try their new Knightsbridge spot on Hans Crescent for love heart adorned alcoves.

Farm Girl

Notting Hill spot Farm Girl brings Australian brunch culture to West London, with a menu of healthy largely vegetarian options including açai bowls, porridge and oats, and of course, avocado on toast. I’d recommend the Berry Pancakes, which are made with buckwheat and buttermilk – they’re thick and squidgy, heaped with berries, coconut and candied pistachios. Oh, and they look great in a flat lay! Get there early and snag one of the pink tables in their outdoor patio for maximum Instagram potential.

5 Of London’s Most Instagrammable Brunch Spots

Feya

Tucked away just behind Oxford Street, Feya Cafe is an elegant spot for some post-shopping fuel, if you manage to nab a table that is. With peach walls and florals blooming from the ceiling, it’s a popular brunch spot for those of us who like to photograph their food before they eat it (guilty!). The food is worth snapping though – designed by Finnish food blogger Virpi Mikkonen, the menu is comprised of colourful vegetarian dishes adorned with bright flowers. Try the Rose Avo Toast which pairs a rose shaped avocado with beetroot hummus for a perfectly picturesque dish.

5 Of London’s Most Instagrammable Brunch Spots

Saint Aymes

If you’ve got more of a sweet tooth, Saint Aymes in Marble Arch is a picturesque spot serving up equally pretty pancakes and granola bowls alongside a selection of sugary treats. It’s claim to Instagram fame is the much-snapped awning of flowers that frames the exterior, however it’s just as grammable inside, with a flower wall and velvet sofas. If you’re feeling particularly luxe, splash out on one of their 24 carat gold milkshakes!

Aubaine Selfridges

Nestled away on the 2nd floor of Selfridges Department Store on Oxford Street you’ll find restaurant chain Aubaine’s most beautiful location. Draped in lilac wisteria with charming decor and plenty of natural daylight, it’s a gorgeous spot that feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of London’s main shopping thoroughfare. The breakfast menu ranges from French pastries to lobster benedict, and best yet, the friendly staff don’t mind you snapping away before you eat.

How To Use Instagram To Plan Your Travels

Instagram might be everyone’s favorite social media tool, but have you ever used it to plan your travel itinerary? We sure have! Turns out, Instagram is way more than pretty pictures and inspiration. With over five million uses of #dametraveler and over half a million followers, Instagram is stocked with lots of information for you to leverage when it comes to your adventures! Today, we’re sharing our tips and tricks for using Instagram to plan your travels.

Myanmar: A Photo Diary & Insider's Guide

Make “Saved” Bucket List Boards

A few years ago, Instagram added a lovely little bookmark feature to “save” photos (it looks like a ribbon on the right hand side)! You’ve probably overlooked this feature a million times. But, honestly, it’s one of our go-to tools to save and organize photos that inspire us!

You can make saved boards for any sort of need. Home interior inspiration, quotes you love, etc. Similar to Pinterest, keeping organized boards is a great way to save handy information and inspiration. But we particularly love creating “bucket list boards.” Here are some ideas of how to organize your Instagram finds using saved boards!

Photo Inspiration

Whenever you see a photo that truly takes your breath away, take a second and save it for future reference. Why? Because there’s so much to learn from a well-executed photo! It’s fun to collect our favorite, epic photographs that inspire our work. Scrolling through them is like an instant refresh when you’re feeling uninspired or tired of the way you’re shooting. It’s fun to see how others shoot light, alter perspective, edit, play with color, posing and more! Plus, it gives you a clearer view on the type of imagery that speaks to you.

Location-Specific Details

We love when a ‘grammer shares a very specific location tag in their posts! Why? Because then researching our itinerary to get there is so much easier. Specific location details give travelers the clarity on how/when/where they need to go to visit those iconic sights they’ve long loved!

Foodie Recommendations

Let’s be real. The best part about travel is sometimes the discoveries we make in restaurants around the world!

Start tuning in when others mention or tag their favorite restaurants/meals in the city you’re about to visit… and don’t forget to “save” them into your bucket list folder! Or, if you so happen to stumble upon a beautifully lit, stunning setting to have a coffee or grab a drink, save that too. Racking up lots of recommendations via Instagram gives you a visual on how delicious your trip is going to be, so get excited!

You can also do a quick search for Instagrammers that focus on food and travel. Just search your city + food/restaurants and see what pops up. If you happen to follow our page @dametravelerfoodie, you know we love sharing curated finds of our favorite restaurants and bars around the world!

P.S. you can also find more foodie-travel inspiration right here!

Hotels And Lodgings You Love

Finding a unique, stunning place to rest your head at night can be tricky. But not if you’re using Instagram as your tool to plan your itinerary. Start noticing with travelers share their tagged hotels in the destination. If you absolutely love where they are staying, give that hotel a follow and “save” some of their pictures into the bucket list folder too! Don’t know where to start? Check out @dametravelerhotels and see some of our most beautiful hotels and residences we adore!

Follow Location-Based Instagram Accounts

Instagram is a playground of fun when you’re starting to nail down the details in your trip itinerary! Guidebooks and blog posts are incredibly handy… but following location-based Instagram accounts not only gets you incredibly excited for your trip every time you open the app! After following some specific accounts, you’ll find that you’ll become more familiar with cities, locations, famous sights and cultural traditions – simply because they’re more present in your daily life.

Don’t know where to find these sort of accounts? Take a second or two and delve into Instagram’s search bar. Sometimes the tourism board Instagram’s have contain tons of gems. Simply search your location and start exploring.

A Love Letter To Europe

Don’t Forget To Source Hashtags!

Hashtags are follow-able! So, give a follow to some of your favorite hashtags that categorize photos by style, location and more. It’s a great way to collect inspiration and location-specific information.

Did you know that we actually sort hashtags by location? For example, if you want to plan a trip to New York City, you can search #dametravelernyc on Instagram and find some gorgeous sights and photos to guide your itinerary!

Plus, if you’re trying to grow your following on Instagram, having these hashtags on lock to add to your post is a great way to start getting your photos more views.

Dubai’s Most Picturesque Sights: Our Favorite Locations For Stunning Photographs

It’s a feast for the senses. The most insane mix of modern luxury, dappled with ancient trading history within its historic neighborhoods. Dubai – this young city’s skyline seemingly changes every day. As a photographer, this evolving completely captivated me (and my camera!). Between the city’s architecture, beach-front views, traditional mosques and every quirk in between – Dubai is a quilt of curiosities… perfect for the modern photographer. Today, I’m sharing what I believe are Dubai’s most picturesque sights.

What To See

The Burj Khalifa’s Observation Deck

The world’s tallest building (as of right now, at least!) is housed in Dubai’s bustling Downtown neighborhood. And besides being a sparkling gem in the city skyline, the Burj Khalifa’s indoor and outdoor observation deck is incredible! We think it’s definitely worth it to hike to the top for to the 125th and 148th floors for different perspective of Dubai’s sprawling skyline. It’ll totally blow you away. Be sure to book in advance, especially if you want to see the sunset on the expansive city below!

Dubai’s Most Picturesque Sights: Our Favorite Locations For Stunning Photographs

Al Fahidi

The Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood reflects the traditional look and lifestyle of the city up until the 1970’s. It’s like walking into Dubai’s past! The high stone towers, winding alleys, pathways and public squares feel like a maze of diversity. Many visitors overlook this historic neighborhood, as it definitely as an old world feel in a very modernist, forward thinking city. But I happen to think it’s a must-see! Plus, the sandy, warm tones are a dream to photograph, too!

Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall could pretty much be a city on its own! Typically, photographers wouldn’t consider bringing along their gear to do some window shopping – but let me tell you, this place is a gold mind of picturesque locations!

In between shopping and eyeing up some of the priciest stores in the world, make sure to stop at the iconic Indoor Fountain sculptural piece. The scale of it is astounding! And get snap happy at the next-level Fountain Show at night (shows are on the half hour from 6:00 – 11:00 pm Saturday – Thursdays). Or, if you’re there on a rainy day, the beautiful Aquarium is a great spot to snap some exotic underwater beauty!

Iranian Mosque

Truly a sight to behold. Photographers will be delighted to see the incredible detail outside of the Mosque’s doors. The tile work and splashes of color will bring you to your knees (…and we mean that metaphorically and realistically – gotta get that perspective!). I could have spent hours photographing the architectural beauty of this place. Every square inch is a serious delight.

Madinat Jumeirah Abra Ride and Souk

A ride through the waters of Madinat Jumeirah on its magical abra is a treat for the eyes… plus, its a great way to access what I believe to be the best view of the Burj Al Arab! Weaving through the waterways is so relaxing, especially after all the walking you do while exploring Dubai. And it totally allows you to view the city from a new perspective. Afterward, enjoy a stroll through the old meets new souk to shop for some incredible souvenirs or for a cup of coffee.

Miracle Garden

The beautiful arches of the brightest and boldest umbrellas and hanging greenery? A dream come true for the lens! Besides being a fantastical display of botany and foliage, the Miracle Garden is a fantastic place for people watching. The colors of the Miracle Garden burst into life, both in person and in frame. It’s a total must-do while in Dubai!

Palm Jumeriah

Is this tree-shaped island the glitziest part of Dubai? Heck yes it is! From above, Palm Jumeriah’s famous fan-like shape has become quite notorious for its opulence… and it’s just like that on the ground too! Home to the poshest, sleeked apartments, spas, hotels, and nightclubs you could only dream of… Palm Jumeriah is an excellent photogenic location to witness the higher end of Dubai’s city life.

Dubai’s Most Picturesque Sights: Our Favorite Locations For Stunning Photographs

Souk Al Bahaar

This Arabic-style shopping mall in the city has a ton of textures for the camera (and shopper) to admire. From antiques, carpets, home goods and waterfront restaurants – Souk Al Bahaar is definitely worth adding to your Dubai itinerary. But, one of my favorite secrets is that it’s home to a unique framed view of the Burj many overlook!

Water Canal

Take in the sun set or sun rise from the Water Canal and you’ll see the skyscrapers of Dubai beam with golden shades galore.

Sikka Cafe

Named “Dubai’s original cafe,” Sikka has been open since the 1800s and the Al Maktoum Dynasty. Pretty dang impressive! As Dubai began its trading and cultural exchanges with other worlds, it also began to pick up the culinary delicacies it traded with. Sikka does a masterful job at incorporating local treats with Indian and Persian flavors. It’s an amazing homage to Dubai’s growth, development and its delicious cuisine!

Parker’s

Located in the famous Dubai Mall, Parker’s began as a “concept restaurant” that quickly got to be very popular with tourists and locals. The original quirk was that guests would need to recover a special key hidden somewhere within the sprawling Dubai Mall in order to get a seat… and only clues given on its Instagram would help them track it down. This place got a buzz going ever since! And for good reason. It’s delightful with a fantastic menu!

An Photogenic Guide To Paris

An Instagrammable Guide To Paris

Paris, the City Of Light, has been my home away from home for about a half of a year now. Learning the ins and outs of this romantic city has been a joy of mine in these past few months. I’ve started collecting my favorite coffee shops, hidden locations to see its world famous sites far from the crowds, and boutiques and cafes with unique beauty all their own. Today, I’m sharing my Instagrammable Guide to Paris with you all!

Stay

In between my adventures around the globe, I’m constantly booking my favorite Parisian hotels last minute using Hotel Tonight. It’s my favorite little trick to finding gorgeous lodgings when I’m flying in and out of Paris for a day or two. The ease of booking with their website and app is incredible! And I always find some absolute stunners! You can get $25 off your stay by using my promo code: nyakoub too!

Grand Pigalle Hotel

Pigalle is sort of like the Brooklyn of Paris. It’s stacked with street art, bustling bars and a lively night life scene. Plus, it’s within walking distance to  Notre Dame Cathedral and Arc de Triomphe. The Grand Pigalle’s design is a perfect combination of classic French architecture and Brisih design. I love it’s quirky details – from the pineapple shaped door knockers, metallic wall papers and martini-patterned carpets. The Grand Pigalle also has some of the best views of Montemartre, making it the perfect place to start your days of photo adventure from!

Hotel Bachaumont

Hotel Bachaumont is centrally located in the chicest area of Paris, in my opinion! Sentier is filled with endless restaurants, shops and is super close to the Louvre and my favorite pedestrian only rue – Rue Montorgueil. Art deco lovers will absolutely love this space!

An Instagrammable Guide To Bermuda

Bermuda is the land of crystal clear waters, sandy, cliffside beaches and pure natural beauty. In the midst of rainy, dreary weather, I was thrilled to team up with Cheap Caribbean, an online travel agency focused on tropical beach vacations, to explore sunny, warm Bermuda with other Dame Travelers in tow on our second Dame Traveler Trip of the year! In between soaking in the delicious warmth and swaying palm trees, the brilliant and genius Jess of The Wondering Dreamer and I took a deep dive into our how-tos travel photography and were able to give our insight and expertise to some absolutely wonderful girls. This deliciously beautiful island nation has plenty of gorgeous vantage points to photograph. But where should a girl start? Jess and I spent a lot of time curating the perfect spots for you to capture some lovely photographs of Bermuda. Here is our Instagrammable guide to Bermuda, its many beaches, outlooks, photogenic alley ways and quiet corners!

An Instagrammable Guide To Bermuda

With two photograph-obsessed leaders like Jess and I creating an itinerary with Cheap Caribbean around Bermuda, it’s easy to see how much fun it is to explore a new place with a camera in tow. Our goal was to give our gal pals the chance to explore the island nation with a photographic eye, while also teaching them how to capture their travels. In between traipsing through sunny Bermuda, we hosted tutorial sessions and photo shoots throughout the trip and even gave the girls a fabulous book of tips for them to keep!

Elbow Beach

If there’s ever been a perfect setting to watch a stunning sunset, it might be right on Elbow Beach. The girls, Jess and I had so much fun savoring the watercolor skies and cotton candy clouds as the sun said goodbye for the day. No better way to end the day.

Exploring St. George’s

This quaint and charming little town is filled with so many gems! Wandering down the narrow streets of St. George is a feast for the eyes – so many textures, colors and sights to see. Be sure to visit St. Peter’s Church and its iconic and photogenic staircase, as well as the many local restaurants and boutiques. We had an absolute ball capturing portraits of each other throughout the city.

Horseshoe Bay

Bermuda’s best scenes are those that make you feel close to the power of the ocean. That’s why I loved shooting Horseshoe Bay’s volcanic looking rocks and crystal clear ocean tides. Doesn’t this bay look like a place stuck in time? Maneuvering around these rocks was quite a fete, but absolutely worth it!

Sunset On Abbotts Cliff

Who doesn’t love a sunset overlooking a sprawling, colorful scene? Jess and I knew that we wanted to have as many opportunities as possible to capture Bermuda’s iconically gorgeous sunsets, so we did our research and discovered Abbotts Cliff. Although it can be a hike to reach the top of the cliff, all of us did it in dresses… yeah girl power! Taking a few minutes to be grateful, appreciative and mindful on top of the cliff while hearing the crashing and lapping of the ocean waves was so rejuvenating.

Be sure to sip on some wine or enjoy a luxurious tea here in between beaching, sunning and exploring this beautiful island nation.

Pack a picnic (sushi was divine, if you want to follow our lead!), slip your shoes off and be sure to aim your camera because the Admiralty House Park is so lush… it’d be a shame not to capture its beauty. Feeling so close and connected to the water, dipping our toes in between playing with photo compositions and long talks about the good things in life…. HEAVEN!

If you’re looking for paradise, it’s only about a two hour flight from JFK airport! Here’s hoping when you visit Bermuda that you find peace, relaxation… and capture some stunning photographs along the way!
