Food Hotels North America Reviews

Hotels We Love: The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco

Formerly the headquarters of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company back in 1909, The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco has done an amazing job maintaining the building’s historic neo-classical design while also adding chic-modern flair to the mix. The hotel is located in Nob Hill, just steps away from San Francisco’s Chinatown, the largest Chinatown outside of Asia!

Upon arrival to the hotel, I immediately noticed the decadent lounge sitting pretty in the middle of the lobby area. The lounge has fantastic views of the city and the decor is like something out of a dream.

The Club Level is reserved for guests staying on the top floors of the hotel where our room was located, this was quite a treat since it’s known to be one of the best club levels in America!

Immediately upon entering the Club Level, I was greeted with kind smiles and experienced warm and friendly service. Thus, the Ritz Carlton standard.

The lounge caters to your every need, offering everything from breakfast, a light snack, Hors d’oeuvres, evening desserts and whole fruit, freshly baked cookies, champagne, wine and made-to order cocktails.

The rooms ooze couture with their steely blue, silver and grey color schemes reflecting the famous San Francisco fog.

Garden Terrace
Took a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and strolled through the property’s beautiful terrace.

Dinner at Parallel 37

We had the pleasure of dining at the hotel’s restaurant, Parallel 37. The restaurant offers a globally-influenced California menu by Chef Michael Rotondo. A wine pairing menu was on the evening’s agenda. The dishes are incredibly creative and delicious and the service was just as wonderful.

First Course
Mixed Green Salad with toasted seeds, brassicas and buttermilk dressing. It was just as delightful as it looks!

A variety of bread options presented in such a beautiful way.

Second Course
Maine Lobster with pea tendrils, thai basil and kumquat. Now this was by far my favorite dish, the sauce was light with a hint of citrus and piece of octopus completed the dish.

Third Course
California Lamb with spring peas, fried rice, green curry. The flavors in this dish were to die for. Every bite was impeccable and of course, plated beautifully, just as every dish was.

All in all, our visit to the Ritz Carlton, San Francisco was just perfect. Everything from the service, to the decor, to the cuisine, exceeded my expectations. I will be back again!
